Campaign to help victims of a catastrophic flood in Quang Binh, Viet Nam
Campaign Committee
Dear friends!
As you might know, 5 provinces in the central region of Viet Nam have just endured the worst flood over the last 100 years. According to the newest official statistics, 66 people have been reported dead and 18 still missing; more than 2100 houses were completely collapsed and nearly 160,000 houses were damaged; physical and economic losses are countless. Ten days after the catastrophe came, many villages are still being sunk in the water. The estimated loss is about 2,800 billion dongs or 150 million dollars. This is a tremendous loss for such poor provinces. Thousands of non-poor households will become poor; hundreds of thousands of poor people will become poorer. A lot of difficulties are waiting for them ahead.
As usual, generous hearts do not leave the victims alone. Lots of donations around the country have come to the affected areas. These precious supports have greatly foster the resilience of the victims. However, the hardship still persists. Many people are still starving and homeless, children may not be able to return toschool.
Our home town, Quang Binh province, has suffered the most and is still suffering. For many years, it has been among the poorest provinces of the country, and the disaster has once again knocked it down. In order to help our countrymen overcome such a desperate situation, we are running the campaign “ONE HEART SAVES A THOUSAND LIVES” in order to call for donations from over the world. We are aiming at:
1) Providing food to the hungry.
2) Giving text books and school stationery to pupils in the damaged areas.
3) Providing the victims with seeds for re-cultivating crops.
We would extremely appreciate your generosity. We guarantee that all of your contributions will be used for the stated purposes. All the information regarding the implementation of the campaign will be made public for your reference.
Please do not hesitate to let us know if you have any questions or you have any specific requests about how your donations should be used. All the inquiries should be directed to one of our representatives.
Faithfully yours,
